8 Insane Times Comic Villains Took Up A Hero's Mantle
3. Lex Luthor Becomes Superman
Since his inception, Alexander “Lex” Luthor has always had it out for Superman. He believed humanity’s reliance on an alien to be unnatural, and detrimental to the success of the human race.
After years of trying to expose Superman as a fraud, or a being with ulterior motives, Lex decided to place power in his own hands. When the sadistic Crime Syndicate arrives, and defeats the Justice League, Luthor finds himself on the side of good, doing his part to defeat the Syndicate and save the world. Shortly after, Lex is invited to join the Justice League, proving Luthor had changed, even if it was just a little.
When the New 52 Superman is killed in action, Luthor assumes the role of the new Man of Steel, cape and all. With his battle armor now modified by Mother Box technology after a brief stint in Apokolips, the Lex Luthor of old is gone. The new Lex stands to defend Metropolis from all enemies, foreign and domestic. He even got Superman’s approval!
Inspired by all the admiration and good will the Man of Steel managed to garner while alive, Lex aims to honor that memory and be the hero humanity truly deserves.
