8 Insane Times Comic Villains Took Up A Hero's Mantle

2. Doctor Octopus Takes Over Spider-Man

Iron Doom
Marvel Comics

There were many thoughts in Dr. Octopus’ mind as he awaited his death from a terminal illness. He wondered if he had lived a full life, or whether or not he would even be remembered at all.

Worried that his legacy would be incomplete, Octopus uses his vast intellect to switch bodies with Peter Parker, leaving Peter to die in his disease ridden body. With Peter Parker gone, Otto begins to explore his memories, and feels a strong sense of power and responsibility. Feeling this new sense of duty, Otto promises to honor Peter’s memory, by becoming a better Spider-man than even he was!

As the new, more Superior Spider-Man, Otto uses his technology and 'spider-bots' to watch over the city like Peter never could. In his off- time as Peter, Otto went back to school, all so Parker could receive his PHD, and even created his own tech startup company, called Parker Industries.

Those close to Peter loved the change in attitude, but those close to Spider-Man became suspicious of his deadly methods. Otto eventually relinquishes control of Peter’s body to its rightful owner, but in the end, we will always remember who was really superior.
