8 Nobodies Who Got The Better Of Batman

6. The Reaper

The Reaper is a moniker taken on by a few people over the decades, but that mantle is one likely not known by many casual comic book fans. And out of the people to have become The Reaper, the one that got the best of Batman is the Judson Caspian version of the villain-turned-vigilante.

In Batman: Year Two, readers saw the Dark Knight on a collision course with Joe Chill - the man who shot and killed Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Relatively early into his run as the Batman, Bruce Wayne was up against the man responsible for causing him so much pain and for taking away his beloved parents. But in those early days of his days as Batman, Bruce had cold, hard revenge on his mind when it came to taking out Chill.

After Chill had been tasked by the mob to permanently take out both The Reaper and Batman, this eventually leads to Joe Chill and Bruce Wayne having an encounter in Crime Alley. The reason that it's Bruce who Chill has this battle with, is that Batman actually lets Chill knows his real identity as he puts a gun to the head of his parents' killer.

Taking that vengeance away from Batman, The Reaper arrives on the scene and swiftly kills Joe Chill. Just like that, this long-sought all-encompassing urge for revenge had been snatched away from Bruce by The Reaper.
