8 Nobodies Who Got The Better Of Batman

7. Deacon Blackfire

Deacon Blackfire is yet another relatively unknown Batman foe, with him first turning up in 1988's The Cult.

Like so many others, in his own bubble and his own mind Deacon is indeed a big-time player. In reality, he's likely D-list at the absolute best. But yet again, this is another nobody who somehow managed to get the better of the World's Greatest Detective.

Some people featured here may have physically beaten down the Batman, some may have targeted his nearest and dearest, and some may have scored a complete fluke victory over the Dark Knight, but Deacon managed to get Batman to break his one golden rule.

Yes, Deacon Blackfire managed to get Batman to kill somebody.

While he may have been a relative nobody in the grander scheme of Batman comics, Blackfire's M.O. is that he's a mind-controlling manipulating villain. Of course, he passes this all off to present himself as some sort of voodoo shaman, but I digress.

Where Blackfire and the Bat butt heads, is that Batman: The Cult sees Deacon use his abilities to corrupt the Caped Crusader. Not only does Batman find himself at the behest of Deacon Blackfire, but it's even implied Deacon gets Batman to kill for him.

As with all such stories, Batman manages to free himself and beat the absolute piss out of Deacon - which in turn leads to his own followers turning on, and murdering, Blackfire - yet Deacon Blackfire will forever be remembered for making Batman commit the ultimate evil in taking someone's life.
