Vandal Savage may not have always been among DC's most famous adversaries, but over the course of the last two decades the character has slowly climbed up the publisher's ranks to reach revered status.

Granted immortality by basking in the glow of a radioactive meteorite, Savage is the most experienced human being on the planet. He's survived every war, learned everything there is to learn, and is among the deadliest opponents the Justice League have ever faced. More recently the character has also made a mark on the world of animation and TV, appearing first in the Justice League cartoon series from the early 2000s, before later making waves in Young Justice and in TheCW's Arrowverse.

Still, nothing beats the original comics incarnation, who manages to be imposing and terrifying wherever he goes.

Case in point: not only was Savage apparently the one responsible for sending Atlantis crashing towards the ocean, he was also apparently the first human cannibal too. Lovely.
