8 Reasons Why Inhumans Could Never Replace The X-Men

5. The Inhumans Don't Work As A Soap Opera

One of the reasons people love the X-Men is that they are basically the comics equivalent of a soap opera. This primarily began during the Chris Claremont era, who laid the groundwork for the structure of mutants as a soap opera plot device.

Focusing on the idea of mutants as a group of people different from what is considered the societal norm, X-Men became a book that was relevant and relatable to people from all kinds of minority communities.

The stories focused on their struggles in a world that hated and feared them, and as much as we saw and cared about the superheroics and crazy power battles, we also fell in love with the many will-they-won't-they romance plots, the powerful interpersonal dramas, and yes, just who was sleeping with who.

With Inhumans, trying to put the same kind of soap opera feel into their concept feels a little... off. And Marvel have tried. Medusa and Black Bolt's relationship fell apart, and Medusa started sleeping with Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. Who hey, was previously engaged to her sister, Crystal. DRAAAAAMAAAAA!

Except it just didn't create the same level of drama. Trying to 'Days of Our Lives' Inhumans felt out of place and weird. It just didn't work.

If they were to try and model Inhumans after a TV show? Something like Game of Thrones would probably work a whole lot better.
