8 Reasons Why The Marvel Legacy Return Is Nothing To Be Excited About

3. This Looks Even More Gimmicky Than Usual

Big name character returns are always a gimmick. It's almost as tried and true a method as a big name character death. Tellingly enough, however, the return of Wolverine may herald yet another gimmick that Marvel have a track record of using in an effort to boost sales.

During the height of Wolverine's popularity in the nineties and early noughties, Marvel had a habit of making him guest star or pop up pretty much everywhere.

Wolverine would be slapped on the cover and announced as being in the book, sometimes only to appear for a couple of panels or pages, and sometimes with little reason within the story for him to be there.

It got so ridiculous that Wolverine would wind up on multiple teams at once, whose adventures would surely conflict, and it caused massive headaches for anyone trying to follow the continuity of the Marvel Universe.

With this return, it's a little worrying to think we may yet see this ploy again.
