8 Reasons You Need To Read Valkyrie
6. Jane's Inner Monologue Is Great
Say what you will about monologue heavy books, but when they're done right they can be some of the most entertaining reads out there.
Valkyrie is a perfect example in this particular instance, as Jane is constantly trying to comprehend new abilities while also keeping her personal life in check. While Jane might be more experienced after being Thor, she still has a lot to get her head around being a Valkyrie and the occasional mental breakdown is to be expected, which leads to some hilarious moments.
New powers and a new weapon present new challenges and surprises but, now that she doesn't need to worry about cancer, Jane really gets to enjoy the experience. Aaron and Ewing have really captured Jane's badass, confident personality and mixed it with exposition in a way that is informative without being boring or bloated - a line that few writers can safely tread.
