8 Superheroes Who Revealed Their Identities (And Paid The Ultimate Price)

6. Daredevil - Daredevil (Vol. 3) #36

Spider-Man Secret Identity
Marvel Comics

It's no secret that Daredevil has had his secret identity revealed a good handful of times over the years - usually with a suitably awful retribution afterwards.

However, of these assorted times, he's only revealed his own identity once: in the 2011 run of Daredevil, where he was forced to reveal that he was Matt Murdock in order to prevent himself from being blackmailed by the Sons of the Serpent, who had gained documents revealing Matt's entire superhero backstory.

This was an especially controversial move given that the previous attempt to reveal that Matt was Daredevil had seen Matt sue the paper that had claimed it, meaning he also had to confess to lying in court - which, as a lawyer, didn't look all that great.

Though he dealt with all this with surprising ease, unveiling his secret identity was definitely a huge sacrifice for Murdock, as while many had suspected him to be the red-clad superhero, nobody had been able to prove it publicly until then.
