8 Superheroes Who Revealed Their Identities (And Paid The Ultimate Price)

7. Captain Marvel - Avengers #198

Spider-Man Secret Identity
Marvel Comics

By all means, Captain Marvel revealing her secret identity is a legitimately traumatic experience. After all, the only reason she reveals her identity in the first place is because she's three months pregnant, and terrified because the encounter that should have gotten her pregnant was only a day ago, meaning something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

As it turns out, Marvel is pregnant with the man who she had sex with in the first place, and his magic shenanigans are exactly what are causing her body to go through childbirth so rapidly. As such, it's precisely the worst time to also introduce your secret identity to your team, especially when you reveal your secret identity, give birth to the man who kind of kidnapped you, and then have a go at your teammates for letting you get taken away by this creepy guy in the first place.

Though Marvel eventually forgives her teammates, it's one of the more profoundly painful ways for them to have been told her secret identity - something she no doubt reminded them of many, many times.
