8 Terrible Comic Book Events Marvel And DC Wish You'd Forget

2. Clone Saga

Clones. God, we're in awful territory now.

1994's Clone Saga is commonly regarded as one of - if not the - worst events in the industry's history. The story introduced Ben Reilly, Peter Parker's clone, along with several other clones, including Kaine. Because that's what Spider-Man needed more of. Clones.

Anyway, halfway through the storyline it was 'revealed' that Peter was the actual clone and that Ben was the OG Peter Parker. Then it was revealed that Peter was, well, Peter, and that the whole twist had been orchestrated by a resurrected Norman Osborn as a means of destroying the wall-crawler's resolve to continue as Spider-Man. Boy.

The Clone Saga was, quite frankly, atrocious, and typified the web-slingers dismal turn of fortune during the nineties following the equally dreadful Maximum Carnage.
