2. Harley Quinn’s Movie-Inspired Look
With Suicide Squad coming out in August, DC is understandably preparing for an onslaught of potential new readers. They want the comics to be as easy to jump into as possible, and that's reflected in how they're going to visually depict one of their stars. So as not to alienate the people who would only recognize Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, her look has been changed to much closer mirror the movie version.
While some traditionalists might object to these new digs, the look very much suits the character and it’s not like DC is completely overhauling her personality. This is still the Harley we love, now just with some hair dye.
Marvel has had a lot of success is subtly tweaking their comics to make them more accessible to film viewers. Unobstructive changes like Harley’s look is exactly the type of thing that can help DC draw those same fans in without throwing away what made the character special in the first place. Hopefully, this will be a sign of their method of operation going forward.
