8 Things To Know About The DC Comics Rebirth
1. The Joker’s True Identity
More than any massive character changes, the most controversial thing to come out of Rebirth is likely to be the revelation of the Joker’s true identity. After hinting at it in recent months, with Batman sitting in Metron’s chair and discovering it for himself, Justice League #50 will finally provide answers to this long-elusive question and it’s still up for debate if that’s a good thing or not.
Many fans love his self-proclaimed ‘multiple-choice’ history, and fear that a definitive answer in this case would ruin a lot of his mystique. And if the revelation is to have any actual meaning, it would have to be someone we already know, either retconning some secondary character’s backstory or making the Joker some unknown relative of someone like Alfred or Nightwing. None of these scenarios sound particularly promising.
Unless this is some big joke where they reveal his identity as ‘The Joker,’ it’s unlikely this is going to go over well, and could make for the biggest unnecessary shakeup in the DC landscape just as Rebirth hits.
