8 Times Wolverine Died In The Comics
He's the best there is at what he does. And what he does is die. A lot.
With the recent critical and commercial success of Logan, as well as Hugh Jackman's insistence that the movie will indeed be his final turn as the iconic claw-laden Canuck, it appears comic book fans may have to say goodbye to the character that's propelled Fox's X-Men franchise to greatness over the past 17 years.
Luckily for anyone fearing the departure will be permanent, the comic book world has already set several precedents suggesting that it's often only "so long" to the berserker.
You'd be forgiven for assuming that given his potent healing factor, Adamantium-fused skeleton and impressive combat skills, Wolverine would sit among Marvel's most invincible characters, but that actually isn't the case. In fact, Wolverine stands as one of Marvel's most prolifically slaughtered superheroes, perhaps due to the temptation of writers to come up with increasingly creative methods to dispatch the poor guy.
Given the nature of comic books though, death is an often frustratingly fickle concept, with alternate universes, life model decoys, complete retcons and questionable science often used to brush away the deaths of major characters.
8. Electrocuted By Storm
In the alternate-universe X-Men Forever comics, an unstable clone of Storm fights with the X-Men against the malevolent villain Shadow King; an entity with several arcane powers including possession and telepathy.
During the team's scuffle with the creature, Storm comes into contact with him, absorbing some of his evil and becoming notably more hostile towards the other X-Men. Soon enough, Storm seeks out the Consortium - an anti-mutant group - and recruits them in a new crusade against her former teammates.
Rightfully suspicious of Storm's new behaviour, Wolverine begins to tail her, which draws the ire of the Consortium, who then ask Storm to deal with him. She responds by using her lightning to mercilessly electrocute Logan until he's nothing but ash and Adamantium, ostensibly leaving him with no tissue left to regenerate.
