8 Times Wolverine Died In The Comics

6. Stabbed By His Future-Self

Death Of Wolverine 1 Mcguinness Mortal Variant 101210

The comic book version of Age of Ultron couldn't be further from the movie it shares a title with. Set in an alternate post-apocalyptic landscape after Ultron conquers Earth and installs an oppressive regime, Earth's heroes find themselves rapidly cut down by Ultron's formidable forces. Taking matters into his own hands, Wolverine decides to travel back in time to kill Hank Pym - the creator of Ultron - to restore the timeline end Ultron's reign.

Wolverine callously goes through with his plan, but in doing so manages to make matters even worse, discovering that his actions not only brought the Kree-Skrull war to Earth but sparked a Latveria-Asgard war too, effectively laying waste to the planet. With no other options, Wolverine once again travels back in time to kill his former self, hoping to save Pym's life and create a better world.

While Wolverine's death does indeed achieve this, his persistent temporal meddling creates a tear in the space-time continuum that has ramifications for several characters across the multiverse. You win some, you lose some, apparently.
