Sales: 200 million In the West Dragon Ball is best remembered as a TV show that aired on Cartoon Network in the late nineties with a Z at the end of its name. However in the East the adventures of Son Goku and his extended friends, family and alien nemeses had been published in manga form from 1984, eventually finishing its run in June of 1995. Originally published in the popular anthology series Shonen Jump, the series was repackaged into 42 yes, 42 tankobon collections that proved to be just as popular at home as abroad when the cartoon adaptation took off around the world. No doubt Akira Toriyama's recent foray back into that universe, with the comedic series Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, will help those sales figures too.
