4. The Dark Knight 3: The Master Race
From Dark Nights, to the Dark Knight, but this one offers a different take on Batman.
Don't let the fact that Frank Miller lost his marbles somewhere between All-Star Batman and Robin and Holy Terror, he appears to have found them again while working on The Dark Knight 3: The Master Race.
Either that or his collaborators Brian Azzarello and Andy Kubert were voices of reason which steered the veteran Caped Crusader in the right direction and helped him recapture his former glory (again).
Dark Knight 3 concluded last month, and while it had some ups and downs during its nine-issue run, it's well worth sticking around for its triumphant ending.
With his third helping of aged Bruce Wayne, Miller has undone much of the damage he's inflicted on iconic DC heroes over the years, namely Superman, who is much closer to the heroic Man of Steel we know and love in this story.
The Master Race creative team also deconstructs Batman once again, presenting us with a more fallible Caped Crusader, but one who still qualifies as an old Bat who's capable of learning new tricks.
Of course, Dark Knight 3 was never going to measure up to the seminal original, but unlike Dark Knight Strikes Again, it's worthy of basking in its reflected glory.
