9 Reasons Why DC Really Is Better Than Marvel
1. The Entire Vibe
While the feeling anyone gets when reading a comic will always undoubtedly come down to their own experiences as a comic book fan, there's just something so uniquely unquantifiable about the DCU that makes it so utterly absorbing to begin with.
It might be the costumes, the history, or even the tonal delineation between a typical Marvel or DC book, but there is something unique about DC's comics that make them stand out over the competition. It's... vague, admittedly, but reading literature is at its core a uniquely personal experience; there's a whole matter of when, how and why you first interacted with a book and, if like me, DC was your first avenue into the medium, there will be something imperceptible about how you, as a reader, respond to a given body of work.
This isn't to say that Marvel doesn't have its own kind of vibe either, because it does. The Marvel Universe is just as magical as DC's, but for different reasons, and with it lacking geographical analogues entirely (i.e., Gotham City for NYC), it's clear that the intent was to make Marvel's world more believable, than inconceivable.
Whether or not it works for you is another thing entirely, but for comics fans the world over, DC just has something that gives it the edge, and has for a while.
