5. Hangs A Guy From His Batplane (Batman #1)

In the very first Batman solo comic (yes, the VERY first time Batman appeared in his own title), the Dark Knight was going after an evil scientist who had used a toxic serum to turn a group of innocent mental patients into muscular, out-of-control monsters.

A van containing some henchmen who were driving one of the monsters somewhere for him to wreak havoc crashed into a tree, when Batman attacked it. The monster got loose, Batman hung a noose from his Batplane around his neck, then lifted him up, hanging him to death.

This was an innocent mental patient who had simply been used in a cruel experiment. Incidentally, this was all after Batman had mowed down every other person who was on board the van with a newly mounted machine gun that he had on his Batplane. But he "doesn't kill", of course...
