A-Z of Judge Dredd - 26 Important Things You Must Know
I is for Ilsa Hayden
Dr Ilsa Hayden is a character from the 1995 Judge Dredd movie. She is a relatively throw away name but plays a big part in Judge Rico's maniacal plot to restart the process of cloning that created Dredd and Rico. It was her responsibility to help create an army of Rico's with which to take over Mega-City One. How fiendish, hu? She is played by Joan Chen, but is not a character from the comics.
J is for Judge Joseph Dredd
What can we say about Judge Dredd that you don't already know? If you've no clue as to who Dredd is then we've got to ask: Where the Hell have you been for the last thirty five years? Judge Joseph Dredd is the most feared lawman in Mega-City One. He is a proud, honourable warrior in the fight against criminality. He cannot be bribed. He will not be corrupted and he damn sure wont be taking his helmet off so you can stare into his baby blues! Dredd is a clone of Eustace Fargo (see F) and has no family ties. He is an emotionless machine that is sometimes portrayed as a brutal force as much as he is the good guy. Dredd has had 2 big screen outings so far, one where he was portrayed by Sly Stallone (a mistake) and the other is the up coming 2012 movie starring karl Urban. We know which one will take pride of place on our DVD shelves! Key Dredd storylines include Origins, Dredd Vs Death and The Judge Child.
K is for Judge Nathan Kruger
Judge Nathan Kruger was a street Jude with a very short fuse. He had often been accused of using excessive force and in Judge Dredd Magazine volume 3 volume 74 he accidentally kills a woman when he goes a little too far. Amazingly Kruger escapes justice only to end up as the (corrupt) Chief Judge of Sector 13. He is eventually killed while in this position of power, not escaping judgement a second time.
L is for Lawgiver
The weapon of choice for all judges. Standard issue semi-automatic hand gun with built in security ensuring anyone who handles it that is not authorised will receive a very nasty surprise. The Lawgiver comes with various settings including heat seeking, standard, armour piercing and explosive. An 'exorcist' bullet has also been added to battle supernatural enemies, no doubt to help in the fight against those pesky Dark Judges.
