8. Mighty Avengers #2 - “No Pasaran” Scene

When I came on board at Marvel, I was pretty astonished to be offered an Avengers spin-off title, so I didn’t want to go pulling punches.

The idea was for a kind of ‘people’s Avengers’ – in the original pitch, they were giving out membership cards to whoever wanted one – and I tried to establish that early with this scene, as a crowd responds to an alien bully with an old anti-fascist slogan.

When that gets shut down, the crowd switches to ‘Avengers Assemble’, equating the two.
