Batman: 10 Controversial Moments We’ll Never See On Screen

3. The Death Of Alfred

alfred-death Here's another controversial thing that occurred in the Batman comics that got a lot of Batman fans marching with torches and pitchforks. Yes, Batman's faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth was actually killed off in Detective Comics #328. Though he was later resurrected for the sake of the fans, the damage had already been done. Fans just couldn't imagine a world not shared between Batman and his faithful butler. And who could blame them? True to a fault, the butler's role in the comics is an important one. He helped turn a weak child into a strong man who would eventually don the cape and cowl and beat back the scum of the alleyways after they robbed him of his parents. Besides that, Alfred also aided Batman through every night of crime fighting - he was practically Robin before Dick came into the picture. Without Alfred, there is no Batman, which is probably why Hollywood turned down every chance to kill him off in the films. Good choice.
