8. Arthur Brown's Secret Life
DC ComicsThe first glimpse into the world of Eternal came during the Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo origin arc Zero Year, which is nearing an end in the Batman title (with a few ancillary crossovers into other DC titles like Detective Comics). As Zero Year progressed, Eternal suddenly replaced the current storyline for one issue (Batman #28), providing a suitably vague but doubtlessly intriguing flash-forward into the upcoming miniseries. One important player in that sneak-peek issue was Stephanie Brown, absent in the New 52 so far and sporting the guise of the vigilante Spoiler. When Eternal actually began, it became clear that Stephanie Brown's story was vital to the coming events. She happens upon her father in the costume of the villain Cluemaster, consorting with other Gotham baddies like Lock-Up and Signalman, and from then on Stephanie's life is a dangerous one. Slowly, the tales of both Stephanie and Arthur Brown are becoming intertwined with the larger arc of Eternal. Flashbacks to the creation of Cluemaster in the mind of Arthur Brown are revealed as Stephanie researches her father's hidden past, and it's clear that Batman and Co. will cross paths with the Browns sooner rather than later.
