Marvel Comics

A superhero who has gone by many names since her first appearance, Monica Rambeau was a lieutenant in the New Orleans Harbour Patrol before she was bombarded with extra-dimensional energy.

Her powers are immense and varied, with the character being able to turn into any sort of energy; fly, and shoot energy blasts from her hands; absorb energy, and become intangible - among a plethora of other abilities.

Her powers are as varied and numerous as her monikers, which have ranged from Captain Marvel - which she was forced to give up to Genis-Vell - to Photon (also taken by Genis-Vell), Daystar, Pulsar, and her current alias, Spectrum.

Despite having no direct links to the original Captain Marvel beyond similar sources of power, Monica Rambeau has worked as a powerhouse on major superhero teams, including The Avengers, The Ultimates, and even the Nextwave squad. She led the Avengers on one occasion, with her commanding personality, level-headedness, and powerful abilities making her an ideal leader, even when compared to the other Captains to have adopted the mantle.
