12. Daredevil: Redemption
Daredevil's Catholicism is an integral part of the character's makeup, and in this story he's confronted with the evil that men are capable of when faith is twisted to support narrow-minded prejudices and unbridled hatred. Redemption is a small town community housing the dregs of humanity, where writer David Hine examines some heavy issues such as bigotry, corruption, violence and misguided faith while crafting a fantastic exploration of Murdock's dual role as vigilante and attorney and the complexities of his unique position. Michael Gaydos' scratchy artwork lends an air of down-to-earth realism to the proceedings and perfectly compliments the heavy material. With the legal side of Daredevil's world on full display, Redemption offers up Hine's fascinating and insightful take on the Man Without Fear, and it's entirely worth the commitment to read.
