Publishers often talk about events impacting on their output in a meaningful way, and DC weren't kidding when they spoke about Dark Nights in this context.

Metal will forge its own line of comics called Dark Matter, a banner with ambitions to address many of the worst things about the comic book industry.

The Dark Matter line will be a place where creators can devise original characters and new teams from scratch. It will focus on writer-artist collaborations, won't feature any variant covers, and issues will be priced at $2.99 (£2.29).

There's some top talent involved too, including Dan Abnett, John Romita Jr, Andy Kubert and Jim Lee, as well as Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV.

Titles under this new banner include Challengers of the Unknown, The Silencer, Damage and Sideways. We're going to go out on a limb and predict that the latter has nothing to do with the Paul Giamatti film.
