DC's New Gods: Everything You Need To Know

2. Granny Goodness

Granny Goodness is just about the most evil character in Kirby's comic, and while the name itself may not convey that thoroughly, there's a twisted irony to it.

The person in charge of Darkseid's orphanage and the woman responsible for raising his most elite warriors, 'Granny' (as she often refers to herself), is a master of psychological manipulation and one of Apokolips' most feared residents. As the leader of the Female Furies - a band of Darkseid's most powerful women warriors - Goodness was instrumental in Big Barda's formative years, although she failed to preempt that Barda (like Mister Miracle), would rebel and escape her clutches.

Granny is just about the worst guardian anyone could hope to fall in with though, and in destroying so many childhoods, she is - in many ways - the comic's ultimate antagonist.
