Death Of Wolverine: 10 Ways To Make It Not Suck

8. Using Cheap Shock Deaths

So we know Wolverine is going to bite the dust, the question now is if Marvel will feel the need to kill off anyone else while they are at it. Even when compared to the grim darkness of the 90s, comics today have become infamous for massacring characters at the drop of a hat. Marvel has shown that they are willing to use any publicity to promote sales and little else gets fans talking like raging against the horrible treatment of beloved characters. The entirety of Avengers Arena was built upon this publicity boosting method and little else, and having a long-time character like Iceman, Beast or Colossus killed off in the first issue would create further buzz surrounding the comic. Even taking the superheroes out of the equation, it€™s not hard to see other important figures from Logan€™s history ending up on the chopping block. While this might be appropriate if it had a point within the narrative, killing them off for killings sake or to artificially increase drama would be an extremely cheap ploy. One a story of this importance should not lower itself into using, nor should it be required to show Wolverine's plight is life-threatening.
