While funerals are hardly an uncommon thing in comics, one of the single most reviled ever to be put onto paper was the sendoff to the Sentry. Initially introduced and built up as a hero, Dark Reign saw him devolve into someone who had always been a morally bankrupt, murdering psychopath with mental health problems. Finally killed by Thor when he attempted to destroy the entire universe, the funeral features the heroes saying only good things about him. Worse still, audiences are then told certain pivotal character moments only changed thanks to the Sentry being there via sloppy retcons, and the comics ended. The sad thing is it's easy to see something similar happening with Wolverine if poorly handled. However noble he might be it's hard to ignore that Wolverine is a killer, with his most famous line outright stating "I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice." Over the last several decades we have seen in dismember foes, kill whole armies, threaten others with violence and permanently cripple those he fights. This goes completely against the no kill policies of many Marvel heroes and he is at odds with many of them. The comic should make use of this; have the right characters call him out on his past sins as much as his victories. Then let the reader truly judge for themselves what sort of a character he was. The Death of Wolverine should show the impact he had on the lives of many heroes, but shouldnt shoehorn in new facts to try and make him more important.
