Speaking of which, along with The Narrator, it looks like Marla hasn't quite managed to escape her past as easily as originally thought. In the preview, Sebastian notices that destiny has a pesky way of catching up, but destiny looks to be a romantic view of it. Rather, it seems like much of Fight Club 2 will concern old habits, and the relative difficulty of killing them. That same six-page-preview sees Marla returning to one of the more iconic recurring scenes from the first Fight Club, the very place that she and The Narrator met: support groups, which the disaffected pair went to not from anything particularly ghoulish, just a misguided attempt to feel a connection to their fellow human beings. It seems like their skills have slipped somewhat, however. Marla has a harder time mixing it up with the children in the progeria syndrome support group she pops into this time, but it seems more like a chance to talk about how unhappy she is with "Sebastian"...and apparently, she's been stealing his meds to help bring Tyler back out.
