Given the issues leading up to the moment that Banner and Hulk reunited involved a man being ripped open, a portal to Hell, and a bunch of eyeless zombies, you hardly expect this to all build to a gentle heartwarming moment between the two. It's impossible to not be shocked at this moment, for a whole host of reasons. Firstly, since the Immortal Hulk is supposed to be the nightmarish Devil Hulk, nobody could have expected him to have suddenly grown a soft spot for the man he traumatised for countless years. Even ignoring that, the idea of the Hulk caring for Banner - in fact, having great affection for him, and wanting to take care of him - is legitimately surreal.
