Immortal Hulk: 10 Shocking Moments That Blew Fans' Minds

2. The Jones Reveals - Immortal Hulk #11/18

Immortal Hulk #8
Marvel Comics

With Immortal Hulk #11 featuring a nightmarish scene containing a dead and decaying Rick Jones, it seemed safe to think that we'd learnt his fate, and that he was one of the many characters who had died off of the page.

But the Immortal Hulk comic crushed this perception seven issues later, when we found that Rick Jones' corpse had been experimented on, transforming into the horrific creature known as the Abomination. Jones is mutilated beyond belief, with his last human feature - his face - being the only way to differentiate Rick from the original Abomination, Emil Blonsky.

In terms of sheer nightmare fuel, this moment is the single most potent in the entire comic, as seeing one of Banner's oldest allies and companions so grotesquely mangled is the kind of stuff that leaves you with goosebumps.
