JLA - Tower Of Babel: The Full Story

6. Implementation: Superman, Oracle

Tower of Babel
DC Comics

Superman arrived at Green Lantern’s apartment but the Daughter of the Demon was ready for him. He stopped the water from leaking out of the Martian Manhunter’s aqua suit but when Clark confronted Talia, she pulled out the Red Kryptonite. She told the Man of Steel that it would not kill him but he would wish he was dead.

The Red Kryptonite turned Superman’s skin transparent. Because of his Kryptonian biology, he is essentially a living solar battery. His skin is passively absorbing the rays of the sun all the time. Without the protection of his skin, the solar energy goes straight to his muscular layer, which is excruciatingly painful. Clark was also absorbing energy at an exponential rate, which meant that he was well on his way toward an overload.

As Oracle, Barbara Gordon was the unseen information broker behind the Justice League and many of the teams in the DC Universe, as well as the Bat Family and Batman himself. As such, she was unknown to Ra’s al Ghul and was free from his attacks. However, she was unable to help her teammates because the second prong of The Demon’s Head’s attack rendered her computers useless.
