If you need further evidence of the lighter approach to the superhero then look no further than the Legion's roster which, over the years, has included some of the most powerful beings in the history of DC comics. It's also featured a lot of really goofy, silly members who have power sets or personalities which make you doubt the screening process you have to go through to join, since we're pretty sure we could wrap ourselves in Cling Film and call ourselves "Captain Freshness" and look more superheroic than some of these bozos. Compared to the more grounded, realistic takes on comic book characters DC have tried for so far, Legion Of Super-Heroes...well, is a complete 180, where the doofiness of the characters doesn't matter, so long as they're entertaining. Who needs a tragic past when you can pull your arms off and use them as a bludgeoning weapon? We don't often indulge in the fan casting thing but we could definitely see Aaron Paul bringing the necessary gravitas to the aforementioned Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, James Corden could secure his place in the hearts and minds of his new American audience with a turn as Matter-Eater Lad (whose superpower is that he can bite through and consume literally any substance, although we'd like to see him tackle the kebabs from this one takeaway round the corner from our office), and we're still undecided on who would be best for Colour Kid, who could change the colour of anything. Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen, perhaps? The various creators who have worked on Legion over the years certainly are creative, we'll give them that...
