Legion Of Super-Heroes: 5 Things You Need To Know

3. And Some Awesome Ones Too

Not that the Legion Of Super-Heroes is only staffed by these losers with powers you can't imagine being much use in the middle of a battle. They're more on the outskirts, acting as much-needed comic relief during the big cosmic fights the team often find themselves in. With the fate of the universe often at stake, you need a Matter Eater Lad to help you chill out after. The heavy hitters of the Legion are way more awesome than even Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, with the original trio of Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, and Cosmic Boy remaining the key members even to this day. Cosmic Boy is basically Magneto in space, Lightning Lad - later Live Wire - is Electro without the jerkiness, and Saturn Girl is lumped with the usual female psychic powers, but does some cool stuff with them. Outside of the founding trio there's also the shape shifting Chameleon Boy (later changed to simply Chameleon), the self-explanatory Invisible Kid, the not-Ralph-Macchio Karate Kid, and even Brainiac 5, a benevolent descendent of the stalwart Superman villain who retains the green skin and twelfth-level intelligence (basically he's Einstein multiplied by Stephen Hawking in the brains department) but is much nicer and generally chill about not doing stuff like trying to tear the planet Earth a new one. That's a pretty motley crew of characters for a potential film adaptation to chose from, especially if they want a Guardians-style mix of the ridiculous and the sublime.
