Marvel #1000 - Everything You Need To Know
6. Al Ewing Will Write The Overarching Story

So, Al Ewing is everywhere at the moment. Between the Avengers and the Immortal Hulk (the latter of which is almost certainly the finest Marvel book on the stands at the moment), Ewing is at the centre of the Marvel Universe and is clearly having a great time, so it makes sense that he's been tasked with writing the spine of Marvel Comics #1000.
According to Marvel, Ewing is "the primary writer of the story... and will be the writer on a few of the issue's stories." There's currently no word on what that story will entail, but if it's anything like Marvel Legacy, could it perhaps be the case that this issue will signal a new era for Marvel going forward?
One would hope it's not another reboot/renumbering fiasco (lord knows Marvel have had too many of those since the start of the decade), but it would be interesting if they were to shuffle the pack on a bunch of books going forward.
Either way, it's sort of uncharted territory. Both anniversary issues for Detective and Action included teases for future arcs as well as some timeless, self-contained stories on top, but with Ewing having confirmed that #1000 will tell a "mystery", it seems as though his story might build towards something bigger.
