Marvel's Avengers: Everything You Need To Know About M.O.D.O.K.

There are some supervillains you just can't take seriously. BearBoarGuy. Hellcow. Doctor Bong. Let's be honest: this bunch aren't gonna get the live-action treatment in a million years. A few years ago, even the biggest comic fans assumed M.O.D.O.K. would suffer the same fate.

But not only is he getting his own tv series this year, he is the main villain of Square Enix's game, The Avengers. When the studio revealed this, gamers and comic fans screamed a collective "WHY?!". Why didn't they use a badass supervillain like Loki or Thanos?

But we must remember there was a time where Loki and Thanos were considered silly. Nowadays, they're viewed as the best baddies in the MCU.

However, characters like this can suffer from oversaturation so the storyline director, Shaun Escayg, wanted to flesh out a supervillain that had yet to appear in the MCU like M.O.D.O.K. and turn him into a three-dimensional character.

In his own words, "He is more determined and truly motivated to save humanity, from his perspective. And in order to capture that, we lean more on a grounded version of M.O.D.O.K."

Much like how 2018 was Thanos' year, it seems 2020 will be M.O.D.O.K.'s time to shine.
