MCU's Kate Bishop & The Young Avengers: Everything You Need To Know

The future of the MCU is coming.

After months without any rumblings, an update on the long-awaited Hawkeye series has finally arrived. A listing on the Film & Television Industry Alliance website has been amended to state production will start on the 28th of September 2020. It's not much, but considering rumours earlier in the year of the show's cancellation, it's good to see the series is getting back on track.

What is interesting about the recent update is they specifically mention the Young Avengers in the project summary. This suggests that Marvel Studios are interested in bringing the team to the MCU and there are plans to focus on them during Phase 5. With the current Avengers splinted after the events of Endgame, it makes sense to pass the torch to a new, younger group of heroes.

Obviously, in these very early stages, not much is known about the series. However, it has been confirmed that the show will focus on Kate Bishop, with Clint taking a back seat.

So, who is Kate Bishop? Who are the Young Avengers? Let's delve into what could be the future of the MCU.

8. Why Is Jeremy Renner Stepping Down?

Well, officially he isn't. While we know that Kate will be taking up the Hawkeye mantle going forward, not much has been said surrounding Renner's involvement.

The actor had a bizarre year in 2019, featuring failed attempts to break into the music industry, an invasion of trolls on his official app and a bitter legal battle with his ex-wife. Renner had the unfortunate chance to play out his mid-life crisis on a public scale and didn't waste a second.

While terrible songs and the closure of his app are nothing to be too concerned about, eyebrows were raised when details of the court case came to light. Accusations of physical abuse of his daughter, drug abuse and threats to kill himself and his ex-wife spilled out into the public domain, sparking calls for Renner to be fired by Disney/Marvel.

As it stands, the allegations are still unproven and Renner has not been removed from the company. This means he can still take prime billing on the Hawkeye series. However, it's unlikely we will see him in the field as his role is expected to be a mentor to Bishop as she starts her career as a superhero.
