Origins Of 10 Different Lantern Corps And Their Oaths

3. Black Lantern Corps

DC Lantern Corps
DC Comics

The Black Lantern is powered by death and is comprised of reanimated bodies of former heroes, villains and normal people from the whole DC Universe. They are powered from the corpse of the Anti-Monitor, one of the most powerful beings in the Universe, and are led by the Black Hand who has the power to raise the dead.

Necron, the embodiment of death and darkness, created the Black Lantern Corps. He drove one of the villains on Earth called Black Hand to madness which made him butcher each member of his family one by one before finally killing himself. Then Scar, a former Oan and worshipper of the Guardian of Death, resurrected the Black Hand with a Black Lantern Power Ring to serve as herald and leader of the Black Lantern Corps.

Along with the resurrection of the Back Hand, Necron released thousands of Black Power Rings throughout the galaxy to recruit the dead into the Black Lantern Corps, thus kickstarting the events behind Blackest Night.

Oath: "The Blackest Night falls from the skies, the darkness grows as all light dies. We crave your hearts and your demise, by my black hand, the dead shall rise!"
