4. Star Sapphire Corps
The Violet Lantern Corps are known as Star Sapphire Corps because the Power Rings and Batteries are made from a Star Sapphire, which is a parasitic crystal that allows its host to wield the Violet Light of Love.
The Violet Lantern Corps was formed when a few Oans migrated to a planet called called Zamaron. They discovered a parasitic crystal there which they shaped into Star Sapphire crystals.
They used the crystals to empower women who had been betrayed by love, providing them with the power to seek revenge but also to spread love and fight against fear and hate. However, soon after they realised that the power was too overwhelming for the wearers' to control, so they forged the Violet Power Battery and Rings from the Star Sapphire gem. The rings allowed the wearers to keep the power of Violet Light under control.
