Spider-Man: 10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Spider-Verse

9. A Few Characters Were Too Silly For The Sake Of It

Along with a few characters who deserved more exposure being forced into minimal supporting roles, it was a bit frustrating to see some overly silly heroes given more time than they deserved. A few of the Spiders brought into the conflict were just bizarre for the sake of lightening an otherwise desperately dark affair

And while it's great that Slott always retains a consideration for the humorous side of Peter Parker's characterisation, it may have been better to avoid playing to that as much in this story. Bringing the likes of Spider-Ham and Arachnosaur into the event never added much in the way of essential drama, as they were hardly characters readers would get upset about if they didn't make it out alive.

After stepping in and serving a few comedic beats, that's ultimately the fate that befell many of these heroes. They became the cannon fodder to make sure the bloodshed in the story was as high as we were told it would be in previews, making them the sad clowns of the piece. They chuckled into battle to keep us laughing a while before most were forced to make their underwhelming exits.
