The 10 Best Horror Comics You've NEVER Heard About
1. A Trail Of Blood
At the end of the day, a list about horror comics can only have one deciding factor for a winner: what's the scariest. Everything else just kinda falls to the wayside at the end of the day compared to the terror you feel while reading the comic.
And for horror comics that deserve more attention, there can only be one winner there: Shuuzou Oshimi's "A Trail Of Blood".
The whole series centers around the uncomfortable, suffocating, and often downright dangerous relationship between our main character Osobe, and his mentally ill mother. One one hand, he does love his mother, truly, but at the same time, he knows she isn't well. But being a teenager in a society that has drilled it into his skull to respect and honor his elders no matter who they are or what they do, he knows that he is trapped in this situation, and that there's no way out.
It's a hauntingly real look into an abusive household, where a single panel of a woman smiling lovingly towards the reader is more chilling and terrifying than anything else on this list. Legit trigger warning for anyone who's been through what Osobe goes through in this manga, because this comic does not pull punches.
A Trail Of Blood is the kind of horror that stays with you, digging a hole into your soul and remaining there long after you put it down. And for that reason, it is the best horror comic that you've NEVER heard about.
