The 10 Best Horror Comics You've NEVER Heard About
6. Scott Snyder's Severed
Scott Snyder is more known by the greater comic book reading community for his excellent work on Batman in 2011, but the man is a horror writer by trade. And there is no better example of that than in this sordid tale of family, lost innocence, and the darkest depths of the human soul.
The story, about a young boy riding the rails as a traveling hobo to find his missing father, takes him, and the reader, through the darkest corners of humanity. And just when it seems that young hero Jason might just make it out the other side when a kindly old man claims to know his father, it turns out to be the worst stop of all on this demonic road trip.
The guy turns out to be a cannibal, and if his ravings are to be believed, he's been around a long time, surviving off of children he devours over the years. And if that sounds like a spoiler, rest assured, that everything that comes after that, makes that little reveal look positively mundane.
If that sparks your interest, grab a copy as soon as you can.
