The Greatest Batman Story Never Told

Batman comic dark knight

Much like the editors of the various Batman titles had been moving their pieces around to tell the story of corruption within the GCPD, DC had been moving towards a new universe-wide event called Infinite Crisis. Outside of a few minor moments and a former Gotham Central character taking up the mantle of the Spectre, the big takeaway was Batman was "going away" for a year.

The story was ostensibly about Bruce, Tim and Dick retracing Batman's steps as he travelled around the world honing his skills and becoming the Dark Knight fans know and love. The editors at DC then moved continuity a year ahead and revived an old publishing format to tell the story of that missing year. 52 was a weekly comic written by an all-star line-up of creators.

One of the stars of this new title was former Detective Renee Montoya, now out on her own and seeking out evidence of corruption in Gotham. However, this story is quickly side-lined when she becomes involved with the Question and begins tracking down another conspiracy that would run throughout 52.
