Over the years, WicDiv has built up an extraordinary body count, with popular characters like Lucifer, Inanna and Amaterasu (and less popular characters, sorry Tara) kicking the bucket in various ways. Particularly eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that beheadings have always been a prominent feature of the comic’s deaths and it turned out that there was a big reason for this.

In issue 33 readers followed Minerva (or was it really Ananke?) as she travelled through an ominous cave system whilst having a conversation with an unseen figure. Death has always been a central theme of WicDiv, lying at the heart of the comics like a skeletal elephant in the room, so it came as an enormous surprise that Minerva was actually bickering with the disembodied head of Lucifer who, along with Inanna and Tara, was very much alive and well (if you can call it that).

Readers had previously witnessed each of these gods being magically beheaded my Ananke, but no one could have guessed that rather than blowing their heads up she was actually teleporting them to a pagan-looking alter deep beneath London, where she still needs a fourth, final, head to complete her mysterious ritual.

This crazy twist was a real mic drop moment, yet again proving that fans had no idea about what WicDiv was capable of. Could there be some way these god-heads could be fully revived, or is their fate sealed? Only time will tell.
