The Worst Day Of Daredevil's Life

2. His Neighbourhood Destroyed

While Fisk orchestrates Murdock's downfall over a period of months, there is one day in particular that stands out.

When the Kingpin decides that he hasn't caused Murdock enough harm he ends up enlisting help from the military. There he finds one of the many, many failed attempts to recreate the super soldier program that birthed Captain America, and the man in question - a guy called Nuke - is about as unstable as they come.

A Vietnam veteran who subsists on a diet of red, white and blue combat enhancing pills, Nuke is called upon by Fisk to wreak havoc on Hell's Kitchen as a means of drawing out Daredevil. This came mere moments after he'd freed an aggressive inmate and ordered him to murder Foggy in Daredevil's own costume, so to say this was a day, would be putting things lightly.

In any case, Nuke is unleashed on Hell's Kitchen and, low and behold, it doesn't take long for Murdock to come out and put a stop to his rampage. While that could be drawn as a positive, as Nuke's attack was the catalyst for Matt's resurgence, he completely destroys Hell's Kitchen, killing, maiming and terrorising the neighbourhood in an event that even managed to draw the attention of the Avengers once the dust finally cleared.

It may have served as Matt Murdock's wakeup call, but it came at an immense cost to him, his friends, and his own home.
