Thor: Ranking Every Hammer Worst To Best

9. Thunderstrike

Thor Corps
Marvel Comics

There was a time when Thor was replaced by Eric Masterson, whom Odin had given a powerful mace called Thunderstrike. Masterson went on to call himself the same name of his weapon, and while it isn't exactly a hammer, Thunderstrike qualifies for this list due to the similarities between the two weapons.

The inscription on the weapon reads, "The world still needs heroes," and it is made from Uru, the same metal as the mightiest Asgardian weapons and armor. The head of the weapon is more angular than a traditional hammer, and its handle had a strap on the end.

Like Mjolnir, the weapon imbued Masterson (and later, his son Kevin) with powers similar to Thors, including superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to sense mystical energies, and flight. Thunderstrike can fire off mighty blasts of blinding light, but cannot call down lightning in the same way as Mjolnir.

Compared to Mjolnir, Thunderstrike is a much weaker weapon. The two weapons may be comparable in powers and abilities, but the sheer force of magical energy coursing through Mjolnir is far greater than that of Thunderstrike. Still, it's not the weakest weapon on this list, and it remains a relatively powerful item.
