The Walking Dead: 10 Highly Anticipated Moments We'll See In Future Seasons

10. Reverend Gabriel Stokes

The rumours are swirling that when Beth was whisked away in a mysterious car, she was in the company of Reverend Gabriel Stokes, a troubled and guilt-ridden rural church leader. In the comics, Gabriel helped Rick locate the cannibals and quickly became a moral counterpoint for the group at a very dark time (i.e. Ben killing Billy, Carl killing Ben, Glen getting shot, Dale being partially eaten). The good reverend accompanied the Grimes gang towards Washington and later to the Alexandria Safe Zone. While in Alexandria, Gabriel became a vocal critic of Rick and his group, claiming they were, perhaps, too far gone to reintegrate into the more stable and civilised community. Reverend Gabriel, largely a peripheral player in the comics, could certainly fulfil an important role in the show. While he does hold his own dark secrets, his presence provides a €˜go-to€™ opinion that could ground and help guide Rick through the more unsettling decisions that will have to be made. With the death of Dale, and now Hershel, the group needs someone to step in as a voice of reason and provide an ethical compass as they forge ahead in upcoming seasons. A possibility, considering the comics re-mix style of the show, is that Gabriel and Beth will eventually show up at Terminus in time for a tense reunion and for the reverend to be on hand to pass judgment on Rick's methods of revenge.
