The Walking Dead: 10 Highly Anticipated Moments We'll See In Future Seasons

7. Rick Going Bats*#t Crazy On The Cannibals

While we have seen Rick Grimes unhinged before, notably the late-night prison chats with ghost-Lori and his brutal dispatch of the Claimers, Joe and Dan (Carl's would-be rapist), those were just warm-ups for the carnage he unleashes on the cannibal group, known in the books as The Hunters and on the TV as the Terminus Group. While the names and circumstances have changed (in the books, the cannibals were a smaller, mobile group and much less organised), we can certainly expect the results to be of similar calculated ferocity. The Hunters appeared as educated suburbanites, unable to hunt or fend for themselves in the apocalyptic world. They turned to cannibalism, killing and eating unsuspecting survivors to save them the trouble. When they kidnap partially eat Dale, Rick and company find them and dispatch them in one of the most epic sequences in the comic€™s run. The Terminus Group, while appearing proficient with weapons, shares a similar former suburbanite vibe with the Hunters and the false hope of something as meaningful, as Terminus can only lead to plot-driven reason for the disillusioned group to set off on the road to Washington. The growth of the characters after this moment is essential to the remainder of the story, and it is largely due to the calculated abuse and pure savagery of their revenge. Something of this degree is certain to happen on the show, something that will scar the consciences of many and harden the resolve to live in others. With Rick going 'full-Grimes' on the Terminus crew and the addition of a feral Daryl Dixon, it is sure to be, if nothing else, a spectacle of retribution. We can only hope we get a little taste of 'tainted meat' somewhere in the re-mix.
