The Walking Dead: 10 Highly Anticipated Moments We'll See In Future Seasons

3. Carl Loses His Eye

During the initial stages of the walker herd rampaging through Alexandria, a distraught and suicidal Douglas Monroe wanders into the herd attempting to help. When Douglas is bitten and begins to be viscerally ravaged, he starts firing his pistol wildly.

A bullet hits Carl in the head and the injured youth spends considerable time in a coma before waking with slight memory loss and only one eye.His memory returns but the incident changed Carl in significant ways. The post-eye loss Carl is more mature and confident, a vital part of the group€™s defences. This moment is a pivotal for both Carl and Rick€™s development and Carl's subsequent actions prove time and time again that the violent loss of his eye could make him a leader one day if he could only learn to control his emotions. Assuming a Ten season run, the loss of Carl€™s eye could come at the mid-point of season seven. Combined with Rick chopping off Jessie€™s hand, the image of Carl laying bloody on the ground amid a frenzied horde of walkers would certainly leave viewers anxiously waiting out the winter break.
